List Of Fun Activities For Bored Introverts – (Indoors Only)

When you’re bored and there’s no one around to hang out with, it can be challenging to think of something different to do. But don’t worry! There are plenty of things that specially we introverts enjoy doing at home.

My list of fun activities to do that do not involve going outsideOpens in a new tab.. There are plenty of ways to keep your mind active or engaged indoors that require minimal effort & very creative. I’m 43, and my favorites are listening to podcasts & studying.

How to have fun with your pet

Train your Bird pet: Cockatiels are popular pet birds and can be trained to do simple tricks. Teaching them is not that difficult, but it does take time and patience.
First, you should ensure that the cockatiel is not hungry or thirsty. Next, you should give your cockatiel something to eat and drink. Then, offer your bird a small treat every time it does something the way you told it t do. If the cockatiel does something wrong, you should ignore them for a little while before trying once again.

Watch a movie together: This may sound strange, especially if you have a cat or dog, but watching movies while having your pet on your lap can be a great bonding experience and help them feel less lonely when you are not at home.

Get creative by coloring.

Coloring books for grown-ups are a great way to relax. They are also great for getting creative and finding your inner artist. Adult coloring books come with many different themes and illustrations, so you can paint your world any color you want.

The popularity of these adult coloring books has grown in recent years as people have been getting busier and busier.
Some people argue that these coloring books’ popularity is because they provide an escape from reality – which is something that many adults need nowadays.

Others say that it is because they provide an opportunity for adults to be creative – something that many adults feel they don’t have time or space for in their lives anymore.
Of course, if you have teenagers at home, you can encourage the girls and boys to color too.

Visual Journaling

Journaling is a great way to express your thoughts and feelings, but it can also be a lot of fun. There are many ways to start journaling, but it is not crucial at this point what kind of journaling you start, the most important is to get you started with something fun and get you out of boredom, and I am sure you will figure out things along the way.

I have a friend who does this and is super good at it. She is doing a colorful religious journal which is super cool both in meaning and visually.

Have fun editing old photos

Photo Editing
Photo edited by my friend Jayme.

It all started with me wanting to turn my parent’s old black and white marriage photo to appear full-colored like modern ones. It became browner rather than colorful, but it was fun, and I have improved my editing skills, and now I use that knowledge in my digital marketing business.

Photo editing is a very challenging and complex task in the professional world. It requires a deep knowledge of Photoshop, other imaging software, and artistic skills, but it’s a worthy choice for us introverts who like to push our limits. You can start to figure things out for fun or take a course to create your works of art to become a photo editing pro if you wish to.

Play Uno Flip with family

I didn’t know that there were variations of the Uno card games. I found it very enjoyable when I played with my wife and the two kids.

The game Uno is a card game popular to play with children and adults alike. You can start playing by drawing one card at a time from a shuffled deck, playing the card according to the rules, and then discarding the used card. You can play Uno with up to nine players, but playing with four or more is more enjoyable.

Me playing Uno Flip with the family, we usually play it indoors but did not find any photos.

To play Uno Flip, you do not need much:

A deck of Uno cards
One die
A flat surface to play on

Spend some alone time.

Solitude is a state of being alone or without a company, often seen as a time for contemplation and introspection.

Many different benefits come with spending time in solitude. Spending time alone can help people think more clearly, meditate and brainstorm. There is a popular myth that creativity only flows when a group of people collaborates on an idea.

The truth is that creativity can be sparked by solitude, as it provides the perfect environment to think deeply and freely.

Practice short yoga session

Yoga is a practice that people use to heal the mind and body. Constantly practicing yoga has been shown to help reduce boredom, stress, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. And can be fun to experience for introverts.

Treating oneself to a spa day is a time-honored tradition that dates back centuries. Yoga combines mental and physical exercises to create a greater sense of peace and tranquility, and you can practice yoga for everything from psychological and physical health to spirituality. Anyone can try the practice regardless of age.

Play a video game

Video games have become more and more popular in the past few years. With the help of online video games, you can play with other people worldwide. You can also play a game with your friends, making it even more fun.

Some people think playing video games wastes time and harm your health. But many people disagree with this statement and believe that video games are fun and may positively affect your mood, especially if you are winning ;).

Learn some Programming/Coding

My intention was not to code but to have a website back in 2013. I started building my first community website using different ready-to-use platforms. Along the way, by customizing and tweaking, I gained the knowledge and experience today, and it is amusing for me to spend time building stuff.

In case you are not familiar with what I am talking about! Coding is a language used to communicate with computers. It is not just for programmers but also for individuals to use coding to create something useful by writing specific command lines and then having a computer or online server execute the written commands.

Coding skills are also in demand, as they are helpful for any project. There are many different coding languages, but all of them have the same basic concepts: instructions and logic, Which is to build something useful for humankind.

Watch something on your screen.

What to watch is dependent on how much time you have to relax and have fun watching something you choose or turn on the tv and start surfing between your favorite channels.

Watching a movie is different from watching tv, documentaries, and youtube. Movies often have a single storyline and require less background knowledge. On the other hand, TV shows can be more complicated with an episodic narrative, and documentaries typically contain information on related themes or messages.

Youtube is primarily user-generated content that covers a variety of topics and formats.
If I want to watch tv in bed just before sleep, I would like to watch wildlife channels as there is much to learn about life, survival, and nature in general.

Scroll on Social Media

Sometimes we don’t have to wonder what are the things we can do to avoid boredom, and we become addicted to scrolling on social media platforms because it is entertaining and we can do it no matter where we are.
We keep scrolling and scrolling but never stop appreciating what we have in front of us. We get a dose of dopamine every time we see a notification, like, or comment on something.

Be aware this fun activity can be very addictive. Social media platforms are taking advantage of our addiction by making their apps more addictive with features such as personalized feeds and live video.

They make it easier for us to get our fix without putting in any effort by tracking our every move and giving us notifications when we least expect it.

Find something interesting to read

Reading is proven to be one of the best things for our minds. It can provide us with joy, happiness, education, and imagination. Reading can boost our brain power by up to 10%. Use reading as a form of escapism from the stresses of your daily life.

Most of my introverted friends like to read fiction, while I love to read books that inspire me to open my vision and help me grow as a person who wants his life to impact this world.

4 not recommended things to do

I don’t recommend this to anyone, but many see it as fun and helpful.

1. Get Lifted

You can “Get Lifted,” and the definition for that is something I had to Google to find out “highly intoxicated from marijuana or alcohol. I smoked so much weed last night I got liftedOpens in a new tab.…”

2. Just sleep for fun & avoid boredom

Some introverts expressed that they find sleeping fun. I can’t entirely agree with them for a simple reason: I always wish days were longer and we didn’t have to rest for 6-8 hours per night. There are lots of things we can achieve if we want to.

3. Watch adult clips

I will not here to judge anyone but when I asked a friend of mine, she said she watches adult clips for fun. I will leave this subject here.

4. Post dumb memes

I know it is fun to post funny stuff and make people smile even if we don’t see them through our screens, but we know that fact by the number of comments and reactions we get on each dumb meme we post.

So you may ask me why I do not recommend it. Simple, in the long run, that will label me as the funny dumb meme-sharing person. There is nothing wrong with that if one is aware of this information.

Listen to music that thrives you.

Music is a powerful tool for influencing people’s moods and emotions.. Music can create an emotional response to listeners, which will activate brain regions called the limbic system.

Research showed that people listening to pleasurable music had activated brain regions called the limbic system.
The neuroscientists at McGill University in Montreal found that when participants were exposed to pleasurable music, they lit up with activity in their reward centers, including the nucleus accumbens and ventral tegmental area.

Create digital music

Another fun way of consuming music is by being involved in producing it; we do not have to be professionals. We can do it just for our ears, and you might think, “I do not have any instruments” well, that is not even an excuse. I have found out that you can unleash your talent by using one of these apps:

  • Musyc.
  • Pacemaker.
  • Keezy.
  • Figure.
  • Reactable.

Playing music can help the brain. Performing an instrument increases a person’s auditory and language processing abilities, as does memory.
The social aspects of playing music also lead to increased empathy for others and better emotional regulation.

Cook for your spouse

When I asked my wife what would be the most fun thing to cook and what I am qualified for, she said most probably, you are good to go and fry some eggs, so I took her advice and became an omelet-only cooking chef, well I can cook some other nice things too like French fries.

Cooking can be helpful in these 3 situations. It is enjoyable, mainly because it can be seen as sexy by your partner, it can help you not to starve, and will make you pass some time and get out of your boredom. So I highly recommend it.

DIY art and crafts projects

DIY art and crafts projects have become popular in the last few years. People enjoy the satisfaction of creating something for themselves, being creative, and having a sense of accomplishment.

Creating crafts can be therapeutic. It can help you unwind after a stressful day or make you feel better when you are feeling down.

It is also a simple way to get creative, even can be done with your kids. You can do it as a family activity or on your own, and it’s up to you!

Write on paper or start Blogging.

You could write on a piece of blank paper to take things out of your system and throw them away, or write a diary every time you feel there is nothing else fun to do. It can be a fantastic opportunity for introverted us to take things out of our systems.

I have been developing websites for a while now, and I must admit that it can be a lot of work. Some parts of the process are challenging, but I promise it is fun.

One of the most challenging parts of blogging is coming up with content ideas. It can be hard to find topics you feel you can write about for an extended period without running out of things to say.
It’s also essential to ensure your content is relevant and interesting enough to keep people reading, so they don’t get bored and stop checking in on your blog.

But one thing I love about blogging is expressing myself in ways that I would not be able to do otherwise.
Blogging has given me a creative mind and a career opportunity. I teach how it can be done and share my journey in the Successful Introverts’ Club group on Facebook.

Listen to a podcast

Podcasts have been around for a long time but have never been as popular as they are now. I have just started my show, Successful Introverts’ Club Podcast. A podcast is a form of audio streaming over the internet that you can listen to online through your favorite podcast app or download to your phone or computer.

The first podcasts were created in the early twentieth century mainly for radio broadcasts. But nowadays, podcasts are listened to on smartphones, tablets, or computers.
A podcast can have many purposes, but the main one is entertaining its audience. Podcast listeners might

have one of several reasons for listening to podcasts, including:

-They want to be entertained
-They want information about a topic
-They want to feel connected with other people who share their interests
-They want to belong to something bigger than themselves.

Case studies to improve knowledge

If you are a student or just graduated, you may disagree with me, but I am 43 and still try to study every day.

A degree or college education might not be the only way to learn; studying should not end there. Learning is a lifelong process that is never too late to start. The key to success in life is continuous learning and growth.

– You don’t need to go back to school to study because other ways of learning are also effective, specifically online. For example, taking an online course has never been easier. Online courses can be anything from as simple as how to post on social media to more complex subjects like marketing.

– You can also learn from your mistakes by starting something new that will challenge you, force you to think outside the box, develop your problem-solving skills and push your limits.
